Initiative
Six (6) Conservation Authorities in the Lake St. Clair and Lake Erie Basins are working together to deliver locally tailored Phosphorus Reduction Programs. This four-year initiative provides cost-share funding and support for on-farm practices that reduce phosphorus losses, such as cover cropping, reduced tillage, 4R nutrient management, manure management, and other beneficial projects.

Funding Categories

Soil Management
Categories supporting practices that build healthier soils and protect water quality through cover crops, reduced tillage, and erosion control for long-term sustainability.

4R Phosphorus Management
Categories for applying phosphorus fertilizers and manure based on the Right Source, Right Rate, Right Time and Right Place to improve crop yield, profitability

Tree Planting & Restoration
Improving water quality and enhancing habitat by planting trees and shrubs to retire fragile agricultural land, establish field windbreaks, or create buffers along watercourses and wetlands.

Cost-Sharing Opportunities
Categories for clean water diversion, restricting access to watercourses and wetlands, and other innovative or infrastructure projects that protect soil and water resources.


Partnered Conservation Authorities
Thanks to funding from the Canada Water Agency, six (6) Conservation Authorities are delivering local cost-share programs that support phosphorus reduction efforts.
